Finish each day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in;
Forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day;
Begin it well and serenely
And with too high a spirit
To be encumbered with your old nonsense.
This day is all that is good and fair.
It is too dear, with its hopes and invitations,
To waste a moment on yesterdays.
This piece is written by a man by the name of Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 – 1882).
I found this post on a blog called “Words on the Edge”. Always give credit where it is due.
I cannot pretend to know anything about poetry because unfortunately, I don’t 😦
But, I do know that this piece pulled me in and I’ve read it, I don’t know how many times now. Very well written 🙂
What’s done is done, and we need to look past those times that we cannot get back or change… so we must accept and move on. Although this may be hard at times, this is what must be done.
